CHRIST IS RISEN!

WELCOME

Who we are?

We are Koinonia John the Baptist, an Oasis of prayer and evangelization in Bridgeport. We are a Catholic community dedicated to the new evangelization and living out John the Baptist's mission in our everyday lives.

Koinonia is a Greek word that means “fellowship, sharing in common, and communion.” We promote the New Evangelization through activities, training programs, and community.

Our spirituality at Koinonia John the Baptist is summarised by the acronym KeKaKò. This spirituality is characterized by the union of three separate elements:

  • Kerygmatic proclamation (Ke)

  • Charismatic action (Ka)

  • Love lived as friendship (Ko) koinonia

Koinonia John the Baptist seeks to be a community of friends that proclaims Jesus risen from the dead in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our Spirituality

It is a lifestyle, a vision of life itself, a particular way of living the immutable evangelical values.

It is a way of relating to God, to others and to the world; a mentality that permeates and involves all areas of life.

The Koinonia John the Baptist seeks to be a community of friends that announces the resurrected Jesus with the power of the Holy Spirit.

KEKAKO
A people that walks guided by a spirituality

KE

KERYGMA

The proclamation of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. For us this means being a  witness to our personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, in the spirit of  John the Baptist.

KA

CHARISM

Meaning gift of grace. The gift par excellence is the Holy Spirit, who gives the charisms, and so confirms the announced Word for the edification  community.

KO

KOINONIA

The meaning of which is communion. For us this means, that from the moment of  my encounter with the Lord Jesus I am drawn to communion with my brother and sister and so we make one single body united in Christ.

Oasis

Each particular Koinonia is structured into communities of life and alliance that together form the Oasis.

The oasis is characterized by the presence of a community of mixed consecrated life and by the various communities of alliance that, united together, give life to reality. Each oasis is guided by a person in charge called a Pastor.

Formation

School of Evangelization

We have a systematic training program that constitutes a response to the missionary mandate of Jesus and the Church's invitation to the New Evangelization.

All through specific courses and seminars and an active-participatory methodology.
